As tradition, on New Years Eve we played all our new games we got at Christmas time. On of our new games the kids really enjoyed...The Cat in the Hat. They picked 3 random cards which would make a sentence and the kids would have to play it out. For example....hop around the 'trick-a-ma-stick,' while holding a book, between your elbows.
My favorite was when Josh had to slide under the trick-a-ma-stick on his back, while holding a hat, on his tummy! We also played some old family favorites. Like Chutes and Ladders and Candy Land. I can't remember the name one of our favorites...but you have two teams and each team has an ice cube. The ice cube can't be set down it needs to rotate through the members hands at all time unless it's part of a challenge. Then you spin the dial to find out what challenge you will do. Some of the challenges are: give your ice cube a bath, poor salt on it, put it down your shirt and breath on your ice cube! The game is to see who's ice cube can last the longest, it's pretty dang fun!
We stopped the games about a quarter to midnight, watched the ball drop on TV and then we ran outside banging our pots and pans and screaming in the New Year! You know it's a good thing our closest neighbor is a deaf couple!
