Grabbing the candy!

Halloween started at about 4:30 am. Yes, you read that right...AM! (We're in trouble on Christmas!) Josh apparently got up to go use the potty and discovered that the great pumpkin had brought a bucket full of goodies. He then decided to wake up, get dressed, wake up his brother, look through their buckets and then come wish their mom a happy Halloween while she was trying to sleep. Needless to say, we had a few sad boys who had to go back to sleep for a few hours!Once they were allowed to wake up the smiles were everywhere. The big GP doesn't just put a bunch of Halloween candy in the buckets, no he mostly does little trinket toys, (that usually break pretty quick!) and there is always a light-up something for the kids to take with them that night.
It really isn't much but the kids certainly get a kick out of it! Just like I did when I was a little girl! Memories!

As you can tell my kids are dressed up in their Sunday clothes because we were invited to a baptism...how cool to be able to say "I was baptized on Halloween?!" I bet she will never forget when she was baptized.

I liked the picture of the kids for their school Halloween party's...They look much cuter without all the extra padding!

And my little gnome! Gotta thank Shawn for this one...he found it and had to have it for his little boy! I should have gotten a picture the other way...standing on someones front lawn!All bundled up and ready to hit the road! We apparently moved into an amazing neighborhood for the Halloween season. The first house we went to gave the kids their token candy and then all the adults got warm scones! YUM.Then later on my husband told me that there was a house that was frying doughnuts in their driveway. Then a house with a popcorn machine, who was also handing out hot dogs, cotton candy and homemade root beer! No kidding! Further up the street there was a Halloween movie projected onto the garage. There was even a house who had two fire pits in their driveway and it's possible they were roasting marshmallows (didn't actually stop at that one...not enough time). Crazy fun. I didn't get to see all this personally because I took Rusty back home to pass out our own candy...although apparently he wasn't done with his own trick-or-treating cause he made quite a big stink when he figured out where we were going. Although he calmed down pretty quick once he realized he got to help pass out the candy. A little later Wesley joined us.

If you look closely at Rusty expression...he is hysterical...he somehow dropped his light stick down his costume - -you can see a slight blue light by his hand??? Yeah that's it! Silly kid!

Josh is the star student for the week so he got to bring the class monkey (Morris) home for the weekend and then record all the adventures they have together. This is a picture of Morris helping Josh sort his candy by color (just for fun!) He figured it was more of a challenge than sorting it by shape since he is color blind! Ha haa--I think the monkey is color blind too! This isn't all his candy...mom took a huge chunk out because they were peanut candy, otherwise the orange pile would have been much bigger! 10 colors...impressive!
