So on June 16, 2000 my sweetheart took me up to my favorite picnic spot up Big Cottonwood Canyon and asked me to marry him. Almost every year since then we try to go up to Moss Ledge on that exact day (or close to it) with Subway sandwiches and celebrate our family's beginnings! This year we headed up the canyon, got all the way to Moss ledge and it was CLOSED (again). Probably because of all the flooding. if you've even been to Moss Ledge you'd understand how easily it would flood. So we headed back down to Storm Mountain picnic spot. It was a really cold, windy and slightly rainy day, but I really really really wanted to have a picnic in the mountains so my sweet husband got us all set up anyway.
Wow, it was REALLY cold! But we still couldn't leave without at least a few more pictures.
We decided to walk around a little since we had never been to this picnic spot, guess what we found!
A play ground? How cool is that! The kids loved it, when we got back we decided to tough it out even further and try and make smores. (it was only sprinkling!)
There was a neat spillway/waterfall that the kids got to go check out. Man that water looked scary. My heart would skip a beat every time my kids walked over to the edge of the boardwalk--that's probably the only thing the kids didn't like about the day, mom freaking out about getting "too close" to the water!
It was a really pretty spot even though it was so cold!
I used some of the video I recorded from this day for my mom and dads' video I had made them. This year father's day and my mom's birthday fell on the same day. Speaking of Father's day....my favorite gift Shawn got for Father's day was this cute card that Wesley made...isn't it so creative!
